FAQ

What can I expect my first appointment?

During our first appointment we will complete your intake assessment where we will explore your presenting concerns, as well as gather your background information. We will also complete any necessary paperwork and discuss your goals for moving forward.

Do you accept insurance?

Connections Consulting currently accepts Medical Mutual and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance plans. At this time, these are the only insurance providers the practice is in-network with. Clients with other insurance plans may still be able to use out-of-network benefits or pay self-pay rates directly. HSA and FSA funds can also be used for therapy services. On a limited basis, Connections Consulting offers a sliding-fee or adjusted self-pay rate for clients with financial need. Please reach out to inquire about current availability.

What is your cost per session?

Initial intake session (first appointment): $175; follow up appointments: $150 per session. A limited number of sliding-fee or adjusted-rate spots are available, depending on current openings. Please don’t hesitate to ask if cost is a concern- I want therapy to be as accessible as possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

To ensure availability for all clients, appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made after this period will incur the full cost of the scheduled session. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. *Exceptions may be made for emergencies and illnesses with supporting documentation and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Do you offer in person appointments?

Although we operate primarily as a tele-health practice, in person appointments are available on a limited basis (one day a week) in Brecksville, OH beginning in November 2025.

Is therapy or coaching a better fit for me?

See below for more information to find what services better suite your needs.

Therapy vs. Coaching

There are many similarities when it comes to therapy and coaching, but they are definitely NOT the same thing.

THERAPY

Intended to diagnose and treat mental health disorders and symptoms

Often focuses on the past and trying to heal from it

Therapists typically have higher levels of professional education like a masters or doctorate degree, as well as having to pass a licensing board exam

Most therapists can make great coaches

Limited to the state(s) your provider is licensed in

COACHING

Focuses less on healing and more on

future growth

Focuses on taking action in the present to shape our future development

A coach cannot be a therapist without the proper education or licensure

Results and action driven, therefore, usually more short term compared to therapy which often takes years to see results

Not geographically limited; available internationally

Disclaimer

My coaching business is completely separate from my practice as a therapist. I do not intermingle coaching and therapy clients. If during our time working together, it becomes apparent that a client is struggling with mental health issues that require a higher level of service than coaching can offer, I am ethically obligated to refer you to seek treatment. It is very possible for someone to work simultaneously with a life coach and therapist, however, both professionals should be aware of the other professional relationship and its goals.
